The Henderson Police Dept. needs your help in identifying suspects
involved in several incidents of throwing rocks causing property
damage to the vehicles as they pass under bridges on I-85 at
Dabney Dr. and NC 39. The only descriptions of the suspects we
have at this time are three young black males wearing black jackets
and black pants. If anyone has informationon this call Henderson

Police Dept. at 438-4141.

WIZS would like to send out a special contratulations to Joseph
Everett who finished first in the World Karting Association’s
Junior Sportsman I Light division. Next year this incredible
11 year old will move up to the Junior Sportsman II division
when he competes in the WKA National Pavement Series. So
far he has competed in 36 races and has won 22, finished second
nine times, third twice, fourth twice and fifth once. He has competed
against 27 competitors from around the country. His national title
will go along with his OCR Fall Brawl championship and two state
championships in the lite and heavy classes. Congrats Joseph!

On May 21st, 2008 the Henderson-Vance Crime Stoppers Program

won the Productivity Award from the Southeastern Crime Stoppers

Association for most cases solved of property/drugs recovered with

a population under 50,000. The award was presented at the

Southeastern Crime Stoppers Conference in Port. St. Lucie, Fl.

The award was presented to the coordinator of the Henderson-

Vance Crime Stoppers, Lt. Irvin Robinson of the HPD, during the

NC Crime Stoppers Conference Oct. 12-14 in Atlantic Beach, NC.

The Henderson Police Dept. will begin accepting applications from

persons interested in becoming part of the department’s Volunteer

Service Program (VIPS). Applicants will be screened and will have

the opportunity to conduct citizen observer patrols in neighborhoods,

and assist officers with traffic at special events. Applications will be

accepted starting October 20th, for additional info contact Lt. I.W.

Robinson at the Henderson Police Dept. at 252-431-6061.

On September 28, 2008, at approximately 1:30 am, Henderson

Police Dept. officers were dispatched to 1436 Perry Ave in reference

to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and found the victim, Bryan

Keith Hargrove, of 1436 Perry Ave. suffering from multiple gunshot

wounds. The Police Dept. has no suspect at this time.

On December 6, 2007 at about 9:03 am, Henderson Police Dept.

officers were dispatched to 1510 Maple St. concerning a report

of someone shot. Upon arrival Officers found Joenell Macon, 40,

of 673 Axtell Rd, Manson, lying on the floor suffering from a gun

shot wound. Macon was pronounced dead at the scene. The Police

Dept. has no suspect at this time.

Vehicle break ins are on the rise and there are a few prevention

tips you should be aware of: Don’t leave your keys in the car

EVER! Close windows and lock doors, don’t hide keys on your

car, don’t leave valuables in car that you don’t want stolen!

Also consider warning devices, and parking in well lit, high

traffic areas.
