There will be a Monthly Support Group Meeting at Maria Parham
Rehab Conference Room on Tuesday October 14th from 6pm until
7:30pm. Both caregivers and those with TBI are welcome to attend.

Mt. Ararat Holiness Church is having a Fall Festival on Saturday
October 11th at 301 Southside Estate Court Rd. in Henderson
from 3pm until 6pm. Admission is FREE, each game will cost
1 ticket, and each ticket is $0.75 each. Concession stand will
be available, reasonable prices. Games, bounce house and slides
for kids. Free entries to door prizes and free cake walk. Come
and have fun!

Flu Clinics: Granville-Vance District Health Dept. Friday afternoons
from 1pm until 4pm beginning October 17th. (Closed Nov.28th and
Dec. 26th) The cost of the flu vaccine is $32. Please bring your red,
white and blue Medicare card showing part B coverage and wear
short sleeves. If you have private Medicare, such as Humana or
Premier, you will need to go to your primary care doctor because
they will not reimburse. Children ages 6 months through 18 years
who qualify may receive their vaccine at no cost. They will also be
offering pneumonia vaccines to those who have never received one
and are over the age of 65, and to those who have chronic illnesses.
The cost of the pneumonia vaccine is $50.

There will be a Charity Bike Ride helping Norlina Christian
School on Saturday October 11th in memory of Jerry Pendergrass.
Registration is 9am-10:15am. The Ride leaves Living Stones
Worship Center on 6096 Tabbs Creek Rd. in Oxford and ends
at the Norlina Christian School. $20.00 donation per bike,
$10.00 donation per rider. There will also be a bike show
contest, food, music, and door prizes. For more info call

The Children’s Services office located at 123 Rose Ave will be re-
located to 305 Young St., effective Monday October 13th. The new
office will be closed to the public on Monday, October 13th and Tues
the 14th to allow time to complete the move. To place a CPS Intake
report during this time contact the Intake worker at 252-492-5001
from 8:30am-5pm at the main DSS office at 350 Ruin Creek Rd.
After hours numbers remain the same, local reports call 911 and
all others call 252-492-0202 to reach the On-Call worker. The
new office will re-open to the public on Oct. 15th and all Intake
reports will be taken at the 305 Young St. office and at
252-436-0407.

Early Voting Starts Thursday, October 16th, 2008. There are
two locations: Board of Elections Office at 300 S. Garnett St.
and City of Henderson’s Operation Center, 900 S. Beckford Dr.
Voting times are: Thurs and Friday, October 16th & 17th from
8:30am-5pm. Mon-Sat, Oct. 20th-25th from 8:30am-5pm.
Sunday, Oct. 26th from 1pm-5pm. And Mon-Sat, Oct. 27-
Nov. 1st from 8:30am-5pm. *Same day registration and
voting will only be during the early voting.*

The Pittsboro Street Fair will be on Saturday, October 25th from
10am until 5pm at Hanks & Fayetteville St. There are over 100
booths of art, crafts and great food! Plenty of activities for the kids,
and great entertainment for the adults including The Castaways and

The Special Olympics of North Carolina is having a Chicken
Dinner fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics Vance County’s
athletes with developmental disabilities. The event will be held
on Monday October 27th from 11am until 2pm at the Fire Station
#1 on Dabney Drive. Eat-in or Take-out, the cost is $6.00 per

Chicken Barbeque Fundraiser will be held on October 10th,
at Rebuilding Hope Warehouse on 249 N. Oliver Rd. from

is a four county ministry rebuilding lives by helping people

Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause
of disability in the U.S. N.C. ranks #5 of the 50 states for having
the highest stroke death rate. Out of the 100 N.C. counties,
Vance Co. ranks #2 for having the highest stroke death rate!
As part of the Vance Co. Stroke Prevention Education Community
Outreach Project, a multidisciplinary team from Maria Parham
Medical Center would like to visit Vance Co. churches to provide
info and educational materials pertaining to stroke prevention
